Tottenham Hotspur, under the stewardship of new head coach Thomas Frank, are reportedly prepared to meet Bournemouth’s £61 million valuation for Ukrainian standout Ilya Zabarnyi. This aggressive move comes in response to Paris Saint-Germain’s failed attempt to secure the centre-back with a bid that fell short of the mark.
Spurs have been active in the transfer market, already securing the signatures of Mohammed Kudus, Kevin Danso, Mathys Tel, Luka Vuskovic, and Kota Takai at a combined cost of approximately £120 million. Despite these acquisitions, the North London club is keen to bolster their squad further in preparation for next season’s Champions League campaign. They are particularly eager to add Zabarnyi to their defensive line-up following Bournemouth’s sale of Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.
According to transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, PSG’s initial offer of around €60 million (£52 million) was dismissed by Bournemouth. However, Tottenham are reportedly ready to match the Cherries’ demands of €70 million (£61 million), which includes potential bonuses. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian international is said to prefer a move to the French capital, leaving Spurs to convince him otherwise.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth are exploring potential replacements for Zabarnyi, with PSG’s Lucas Beraldo emerging as a prime candidate. Beraldo, 21, made 22 appearances in Ligue 1 last season but found playing time in the Champions League limited, as he was behind Willian Pacho in Luis Enrique’s pecking order.
Reports from TBR Football suggest that Beraldo’s future at PSG is uncertain as the club considers reshaping their squad. His representatives are reportedly engaging with several English clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea, about a possible move.
The ongoing interest from PSG in Zabarnyi remains separate from Bournemouth’s potential pursuit of Beraldo. Despite interest from English clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle, Zabarnyi has reportedly prioritised a transfer to PSG, having already reached an agreement on personal terms with them. However, Bournemouth are standing firm on their £60 million asking price, even as PSG’s highest offer so far remains £55 million.
