Alejandro Garnacho, the summer signing from Manchester United, has recently broken the silence on his departure from Old Trafford, expressing his thoughts about Chelsea’s season and his former head coach, Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho, who switched to Chelsea this summer for a reported fee of £40 million, left Manchester United after a purported fallout with Amorim. The Portuguese manager allegedly suggested the Argentine seek a new club following United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Having been criticised for inconsistent performances and failing to fit into Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, Garnacho faced a chilly reception upon returning to Old Trafford with Chelsea last month. The Blues, reduced to ten men early due to Robert Sanchez’s red card, eventually succumbed to a 2-1 defeat despite Casemiro’s late dismissal for the hosts.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Garnacho addressed his new club’s challenges, notably their run of red cards. “We’ve had a bit of bad luck with red cards. For instance, the game against Brighton should’ve been a win. And at United, I think we could’ve won if it was eleven against eleven,” he remarked.
Despite these setbacks, Garnacho remains optimistic about Chelsea’s prospects. “We’re well-placed in the league, just five points off Arsenal. With our recent win against Liverpool, we aim to push forward and compete for major trophies. That’s the dream we share.”
Reflecting on his time at Manchester United, Garnacho was candid but maintained a respectful tone. “Training alone was tough, but I harbour no ill feelings towards United. It was a rough patch, but now I’m thrilled to be part of Chelsea and enjoy these moments on the pitch,” he acknowledged.
Garnacho’s comments add fresh intrigue to the Chelsea-Manchester United narrative as he seeks to chart a new path at Stamford Bridge after his turbulent spell under Amorim.
