Manchester United have reportedly opted against making a significant transfer this month, as club executives prepare for a crucial meeting to deliberate potential January signings. The Red Devils, who have remained inactive in the current transfer window, are embroiled in mixed speculation regarding player acquisitions and potential departures.
Following the recent departure of manager Ruben Amorim, United have appointed Michael Carrick as interim boss until the summer. Carrick enjoyed a sensational start, leading United to a 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that Carrick will join an ‘internal meeting this week’, where club authorities will decide on January reinforcements and ponder the future of forward Joshua Zirkzee.
Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, remarked, “Carrick, despite not holding decision-making power, will participate in discussions after an impressive beginning, highlighted by the Manchester derby victory.”
The club is yet to choose whether to pursue a January addition, with potential targets featuring midfield or attacking positions. “Currently, the scene is quiet,” Romano said, adding, “Significant investments are anticipated in the summer under a permanent manager.”
Interest from Italian outfits, notably Roma and Juventus, hinges on United’s stance on players such as Zirkzee. However, as it stands, the club remains undecided.
Roma’s director of football, Frederic Massara, has confirmed that any motion for Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee has been halted, acknowledging United’s ‘clear no’ stance from recent weeks.
Massara further shared insights on Roma’s transfer aspirations, including prospects from Aston Villa’s Donyell Malen and Marseille’s Robinho Vaz. He described them as “two strong players,” hinting at Roma’s preparedness to seize arising opportunities within the remaining days of the transfer window.
Manchester United supporters and football enthusiasts keenly watch as the transfer saga unfolds, with discussions expected to shape the direction of the Red Devils as they progress through the season.
