Chelsea’s quest for summer signings continues unabated as preparations for the upcoming season press on. The Blues have already secured the services of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Dario Essugo, and Jamie Gittens, with Estevao Willian set to join the ranks later in the summer after his stint at Palmeiras. Currently, Enzo Maresca and his team are taking a well-earned respite following their victorious FIFA Club World Cup campaign, but will soon return to the fray as pre-season training kicks off next month.
Off the pitch, Chelsea are advancing in their pursuit of additional talent. The club has set its sights on Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and RB Leipzig maestro Xavi Simons, with negotiations to finalise both deals underway. With Chelsea poised to table their initial offer for Simons, sources at football.london indicate that personal terms with the player have been broadly agreed upon, pending an agreement with Leipzig on the transfer fee.
Chelsea’s intensifying interest in Simons has sparked speculation regarding a potential swoop for Alejandro Garnacho. The Manchester United sensation has frequently been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. However, recent reports from The Telegraph suggest that chasing Simons does not preclude Chelsea’s pursuit of Garnacho. In fact, should the Blues succeed in acquiring both Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku, Garnacho could potentially still make the switch.
The prospect of Chelsea signing both Simons and Garnacho this summer remains an open question. Garnacho would predominantly occupy the left wing if acquired, while Simons offers versatility, being adept in central positions as well as on either flank.
