Chelsea are gearing up for a potentially action-packed week in the summer transfer market, brimming with both incoming and outgoing player movements.
The Blues have already solidified five new acquisitions, funded substantially by their recent Club World Cup prize money and the sales of Noni Madueke and Djordje Petrovic. Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and Jamie Gittens have been secured for the first team, while Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr represent investments for the future.
The exit of Madueke to Arsenal and the extensive minutes played by Marc Cucurella highlight the club’s intent to bolster their squad in those key areas. Talks are well underway with RB Leipzig regarding Xavi Simons, with negotiations reaching an advanced stage. The German side is reportedly open to a deal in the region of £56 million (€65m).
Meanwhile, Chelsea are eyeing defensive reinforcements with Ajax’s Jorrel Hato a target. Ongoing discussions aim to settle on a fee closer to £40 million, below Ajax’s original £60 million asking price, for the versatile 19-year-old who can operate both centrally and at left-back.
While financial latitude permits the potential dual signings of both Simons and Hato, Chelsea are also lining up some significant departures. Joao Felix appears set to leave for pastures new, with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr swooping in to secure his signature for an initial £26.2 million (€30m), as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Another likely departure is Portuguese international Renato Veiga, who is in discussions with Atletico Madrid. Chelsea are seeking £34.7 million (€40m) for a permanent move, with personal terms not expected to pose any complications.
These lucrative deals could afford Chelsea the opportunity to reinvest in further signings, with the potential to inject £60.9 million back into the club’s coffers.
