Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of offloading Jadon Sancho to Juventus as the Serie A outfit express interest in another United player. The potential departure of Sancho follows on the heels of Marcus Rashford’s expected exit, with the academy graduate closing in on a move to Barcelona.
The Red Devils have been busy in the transfer market, securing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford at a price of £71m, along with young Paraguayan prospect Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno. However, to balance the books, United are reportedly looking to part ways with several players, including Sancho, Rashford, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho.
Rashford’s impending switch to Barcelona involves a loan deal with an option to buy. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed: “Marcus Rashford is set to undergo a medical as a new Barcelona player today, with Manchester United authorizing the move. All necessary documents are being exchanged between the two clubs.”
After Rashford, Sancho appears to be the next member of what has been termed the “bomb squad” to exit Old Trafford. Juventus are reportedly keen on signing the former Borussia Dortmund star. Furthermore, Graeme Bailey informed United In Focus of Juventus’ potential interest in Rasmus Hojlund. He stated, “Damien Comolli indicates a Sancho deal is close, but a Randal Kolo Muani deal is not, prompting Juventus’ interest in Hojlund. This dual transaction could assist United by offloading a ‘bomb squad’ member and a player unlikely to feature prominently next season.”
Despite Hojlund’s uncertain future at United, the club remains intent on acquiring a new striker this summer. Bailey suggests that separating from Hojlund could benefit both parties.
As the transfer window heats up, former Chelsea and Liverpool defender Glen Johnson is supportive of Sancho and Rashford taking their talents abroad. He remarked earlier in the month, “There are several Manchester United players not fitting into Rúben Amorim’s plans, notably Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. After coming off loan spells at Chelsea and Aston Villa, neither has managed to regain their form or earn a place within United’s ranks.”
Johnson further expounded, “Despite their talent, these players haven’t capitalised on their loan opportunities. Their future direction hinges on personal ambition and potential interest from other clubs, but a move abroad seems most viable. More English players are venturing into European leagues, which might serve them best moving forward.”
