Matheus Cunha ripped up Arsenal’s title swagger with a thunderous late winner as Manchester United nicked a jaw-dropping 3–2 victory in a full-blooded Emirates thriller.
The Gunners tasted home defeat for the first time this season — and with Manchester City and Aston Villa both winning earlier, Mikel Arteta’s grip on top spot is suddenly slipping, their lead slashed to just four points.
Arsenal flew out of the traps and got their reward just before the half-hour mark when hapless United defender Lisandro Martinez turned the ball into his own net under pressure — the Emirates rocking.
But United were handed a lifeline on a silver platter.
A horror pass from Martin Zubimendi sent Bryan Mbeumo clean through, and the forward kept his cool to round David Raya and roll into an empty net to stun the home crowd.
Then came the real sucker punch.
Five minutes after the break, Patrick Dorgu unleashed a rocket that smashed off the underside of the bar and in United suddenly ahead and Arsenal reeling.
Arteta rolled the dice with a four-man attacking gamble, throwing on Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Ben White in a desperate bid to save it.
And it nearly worked.
Merino bundled home from a corner in the 84th minute and the Emirates erupted once more, sensing a dramatic escape.
But Cunha had other ideas.
Just three minutes later, the United sub latched onto a Kobbie Mainoo pass and curled a beauty from 25 yards straight into the bottom corner a dagger to Arsenal hearts.
Cue wild scenes in the away end.
The blockbuster win fires Manchester United up into fourth and blows the title race wide open.
