Former Barcelona manager Xavi is reportedly interested in a move to the Premier League, although no discussions have taken place with Manchester United regarding their managerial vacancy. Xavi, who has been out of work since departing Camp Nou in 2024, boasts a league title on his resume and a celebrated playing career, making him a coveted option for prospective clubs.
Manchester United, on the hunt for a new manager following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim on Monday, may consider Xavi as a potential candidate. While an interim manager is expected to be appointed until the conclusion of the current season, Xavi’s availability might prompt a reconsideration of plans.
Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano indicated that there have been no formal talks as yet between Xavi and United, with the club’s hierarchy only recently commencing their search. “At present, I am not aware of any negotiations between Xavi and Manchester United,” Romano stated. “United have initiated the process of selecting their new coach, and we’ll have to await further developments. As of today, there is nothing advanced or concrete.”
Nevertheless, Xavi is reportedly open to taking on a role within the Premier League and keen to resume his managerial career after a 19-month hiatus. Romano further clarified, “Xavi would love to coach in the Premier League. He feels prepared to return to management and embark on a new chapter following his departure from Barcelona and some time to recharge.”
The list of candidates for the Manchester United role is expanding daily, with numerous names associated with the Old Trafford post. An interim manager decision is anticipated soon, with former United figures Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick considered leading contenders.
As per journalist Fraser Fletcher for TEAMtalk, Manchester United has a ‘timeline on a new appointment,’ potentially imminent. “The club is set to announce a new interim manager as early as next week, with sources confirming Solskjaer and Carrick as clear favourites to oversee proceedings until the summer. An announcement is anticipated shortly after the weekend fixtures, offering some stability to the club during this transitional period.”
