In the latest from the Manchester United camp, ex-Red Devil Lee Sharpe has suggested that the club should seek an upgrade for Diogo Dalot, criticising the defender’s “errant decision-making”. Despite an improved run of form that sees United just one point adrift of reigning champions Liverpool, certain areas remain a cause for concern, notably at right-back.
Sharpe remarked to Adventure Gamers, “Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu have had their struggles at left wing-back for United this season. Dalot, in particular, can be quite careless with his decision-making — he often concedes possession cheaply and finds himself out of position defensively. Moreover, his marking could be tighter when wingers deliver crosses.”
Though Dorgu shows promise, his inconsistency and injury troubles mean he’s yet to establish himself as a reliable option. As discussions turn towards the January transfer window, Sharpe suggests this as an area ripe for reinforcement.
Amongst the summer acquisitions, Bryan Mbeumo has been a standout performer, netting five goals in 11 appearances. Sharpe praised Mbeumo’s awareness and work rate, highlighting his seamless adaptation and significant contribution on the field.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson has emerged as a potential January target for Manchester United. Journalist Andy Mitten, speaking on The Talk of the Devils podcast, believes the club is “well-positioned” for Anderson’s acquisition, anticipating midfield changes in the near future.
As the Red Devils look to bolster their ranks, fans will be keen to see how these potential moves shape the team’s trajectory in both the Premier League and beyond.
