Liverpool have reportedly initiated discussions with the representatives of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, as sporting director Richard Hughes aims to secure the Arsenal target.
The Reds, fresh from bolstering their squad with Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman, are set to announce Hugo Ekitike’s arrival. The French striker joins from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee exceeding €90m, committed to Liverpool until 2031.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ekitike’s move is imminent, with all parties reaching a full agreement. Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg confirmed Ekitike has been cleared for a medical in Liverpool.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein indicated that Arne Slot’s side plans further reinforcements this summer, despite the tragic loss of Diogo Jota. The club remains open to offers for Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, as they contemplate their next moves following Bayern Munich and Barcelona’s interest.
Amid these developments, TBR Football reports that Liverpool have engaged in talks with Rodrygo’s camp post-Club World Cup. The Brazilian’s limited role at Real Madrid has fuelled rumours of his potential exit, with both Liverpool and Arsenal keen.
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey stated: “Rodrygo is prepared to leave Real Madrid, with English clubs showing interest. Liverpool have made enquiries, encouraged by a reasonable asking price from Real.”
