In a bustling summer transfer window, Manchester United have reportedly earmarked £26 million for the acquisition of Gabriel Sara from Galatasaray. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford’s potential move away from Old Trafford has hit a snag in Spain, as Barcelona concede their inability to meet the financial demands for the inglorius forward.
The Red Devils have made headlines with their £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, bolstering their attacking options. Adding to the influx of fresh talent, Paraguayan prodigy Diego Leon has been secured from Cerro Porteño. Fans eagerly await the arrival of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, with a £71 million deal already agreed and a medical on the horizon.
As United gear up for fresh arrivals, they are simultaneously orchestrating the exit of some high-profile names. Rashford is joined by Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Jadon Sancho as players the club is willing to part ways with this summer. However, Rashford’s prospects are mired in complexity due to a formidable £40 million transfer fee and his substantial wages, proving a stumbling block for potential suitors.
Despite interest from Barcelona, reports from Spain underline that the Catalan club has reluctantly waved ‘goodbye’ to Rashford, citing a dearth of funds necessary to complete the operation.
After Aston Villa opted against a permanent move for Rashford following his loan spell in January, United are reportedly uninterested in orchestrating another loan deal for the English striker. Speculation abounds that Jose Mourinho, now at the helm of Fenerbahce, could be eyeing a reunion. Sercan Hamzaoğlu, Haber Global TV Sports Director, suggests the Turkish giants might lead the chase should other European clubs baulk at United’s financial demands.
Hamzaoğlu commented on ‘X’: “Fenerbahçe have inquired about Rashford’s conditions. While no official offer has been tabled, the club has sought to understand the player’s expectations. Should Rashford warm to the idea of a Turkish adventure, an official bid from Fenerbahçe is anticipated.
“Rashford has caught the eye of numerous Premier League, La Liga, and other European clubs. Though elite outfits like Barcelona have shown interest, none have met his financial criteria. If a fitting proposal from Europe’s top leagues fails to materialise, a Turkish stint might beckon, with Fenerbahçe taking the initiative.”
Following Mbeumo’s impending arrival, Turkish outlet Aksam reports that United have set aside €30 million (£26 million) for Gabriel Sara, once a luminary at Norwich City. Last season, he adorned Galatasaray with two goals and ten assists across 45 appearances.
With Sara reportedly eager for Premier League football, an accord with United could see him don the Red Devils’ jersey as he recommences his sojourn on British soil.
