In the wake of their summer transfer endeavours, Manchester United are now locked in a contest with Everton for the highly coveted signature of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi. Reports suggest the midfielder could be available for a mere £9 million, a sum seemingly astonishing for a player of his calibre. The opportunity arises from a release clause activated by Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League.
Manchester United’s summer signings have been sparse, with the notable acquisition of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million and the youthful Diego Leon from Cerro Porteño. However, struggles to offload surplus players like Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony have left the club in a challenging position regarding further transfers. The potential signing of Ndidi, therefore, represents a crucial opportunity in this transfer window.
Football Insider’s senior correspondent, Pete O’Rourke, has confirmed that Everton have entered the fray along with other Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace and Fulham, although Juventus are also believed to be keeping close tabs on the midfielder.
O’Rourke noted, “With the release clause set at £9 million, Ndidi stands as one of the possible bargains of this transfer period, and it’s unsurprising to see clubs, including Everton, showing interest.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also continuing negotiations for Brentford’s forward Bryan Mbeumo. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has assured fans that the deal is nearing completion, expected “in the next days.” Despite a stalemate over Brentford’s £70 million asking price, optimism remains within Old Trafford.
Journalist Duncan Castles highlighted the ongoing discussions, indicating that United’s latest offer doesn’t meet Brentford’s valuation. Yet, Mbeumo’s desire to join the Red Devils could see the deal finalised soon.
As the days tick by, Manchester United’s pursuit for both Ndidi and Mbeumo could define their transfer success this window, with fans eagerly awaiting further bulletins.
