Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Nottingham Forest to secure the services of midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White in a deal valued at £60 million, according to reports. Spurs have already set the wheels in motion for a £55 million acquisition of West Ham’s versatile attacker Mohammed Kudus, as Thomas Frank looks to strengthen his roster. With the Kudus deal progressing well, Tottenham now aim to finalise their longstanding interest in Gibbs-White, initiating discussions with the Forest camp.
Gibbs-White, an England international aged 25, has two years remaining on his Forest contract, and the club is eager to extend his stay. Nonetheless, Spurs are keen to tempt the former Wolves star to north London, especially with the promise of Champions League football, contingent on securing a deal with Forest. Rumours suggest Gibbs-White’s contract includes a £60 million release clause.
As previously reported by football.london, Spurs were expected to pursue a central midfielder post the Kudus agreement. Gibbs-White’s versatility allows him to operate both centrally and as a No.10 in the 4-2-3-1 formation favoured by Frank. During a crucial season under former Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo, Gibbs-White was a standout performer for Forest, captaining the side at times and contributing seven goals and 10 assists across 34 Premier League appearances.
Earlier this week, Forest completed a £55 million transfer deal for Anthony Elanga to join Newcastle, meaning Spurs will need to present a compelling offer to convince Forest to part with another star player.
In addition to these potential signings, Spurs have secured a £5 million deal for Japanese international centre-back Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale. The acquisitions of Kudus and Gibbs-White would provide a significant triple boost to Frank’s squad, as they aim to be competitive on all fronts this season.
