Reports are surfacing from Tottenham Hotspur’s camp that the club is gearing up to reshuffle their wage hierarchy in a bid to secure the services of Antoine Semenyo. Simultaneously, there are plans afoot to part ways with a key midfielder.
Semenyo has emerged as a shining star in the Premier League this season, elevating his performance significantly at Bournemouth. Despite a recent dip in form alongside his team, the 25-year-old winger has managed to net six goals and contribute three assists across 14 league matches so far. The transfer window’s centrepiece, Semenyo, has a £65 million release clause, set to be activated imminently.
With Liverpool eyeing Semenyo as a potential heir to Mohamed Salah’s throne, Tottenham Hotspur also find themselves in contention, vying to secure this prized acquisition. According to Fraser Fletcher from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are prepared to overhaul their existing wage structure to land Semenyo, although Manchester City are also fervently seeking to outmanoeuvre Liverpool for his signature.
Sources suggest Manchester City lead the chase, nudging ahead of a resilient Liverpool, with Spurs prepared to unleash financial heft to alter the dynamics. While whispers indicate Semenyo favours a move to Merseyside, Manchester City’s tactical allure might play a decisive role. Both club and player are keen on a swift decision to enable Bournemouth the opportunity to scout replacements.
In tandem with their recruiting ambition, Spurs are reportedly orchestrating exits, with Yves Bissouma marked for sale next month. The Times has detailed Tottenham’s intent to part ways with the midfielder, whose latest disciplinary slip-ups, including a second incident involving nitrous oxide and tardiness at training, have tarnished his standing.
While eager to transfer Bissouma in January, there remains a fallback option to extend his contract should no buyer materialise, ensuring the club doesn’t face a loss come next summer when his contract ends for good.
