Real Madrid appear ready to allow Vinicius Junior to leave on a free transfer, amidst increasing interest from Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool, as per the latest reports.
Earlier this year, Los Blancos proposed a contract extension to the Brazilian sensation, a bid that was met with refusal as it did not match the lucrative terms offered to Kylian Mbappe. With less than two years remaining on his current deal, the 25-year-old Vinicius is eyeing a salary akin to that of Mbappe, a condition Madrid are not inclined to fulfil.
Though the proposal remains available for Vinicius should he reconsider, Real Madrid are prepared to let him leave come 2027 if his salary demands persist. El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol has confirmed that the club will not bow to pressure regarding wages. He asserted: “Madrid will not care about Vinicius’s intentions. If he desires a salary above Mbappe’s, he’ll be allowed to exit in a year and a half.”
Pedrerol further stated that there will be no pleading from the Madrid side, maintaining that if Vinicius opts against renewal, the remaining contract duration will culminate in a free transfer. “Madrid are determined not to force the issue or offer more than Mbappe’s earnings,” he continued.
Moreover, it has been suggested that both Liverpool and Arsenal are acutely aware of the situation unraveling at the Santiago Bernabeu. Despite club president Florentino Perez’s fondness for Vinicius, there are growing concerns about the likelihood of sealing his new contract.
Graeme Bailey, a noted journalist, echoed these sentiments: “Perez is a huge admirer of Vinicius, but with contract uncertainties looming, we are witnessing a fascinating few months ahead. Real Madrid’s stance is firmly against allowing him to reach the final year without resolution.”
Amidst this contractual unrest, Vinicius proved his on-field prowess with a stunning goal during Real Madrid’s 4-1 triumph over Getafe, a finish he graciously credits to former teammate Luka Modric. Speaking to Real Madrid TV, he shared: “Modric taught me that finish, and we certainly miss him. It’s one of my finest goals and I hope to score more with such brilliance.”
As the saga continues, Arsenal and Liverpool remain vigilant, keeping an attentive eye on developments regarding the Brazilian playmaker’s future.
