Christian Norgaard, the seasoned Danish midfielder, has reiterated his aspiration to reunite with Brondby once his tenure at Arsenal concludes. Norgaard made a swift move to the North London club this summer after engaging in promising discussions with manager Mikel Arteta. Despite having penned a two-year extension with Brentford earlier in the year, the allure of Champions League football persuaded him to seize the opportunity with the Gunners.
Acknowledging that his Premier League journey is finite, Norgaard utilised the international break to express his sentimental longing for a future return to his home club, Brondby. In a candid conversation with Ekstra Bladet, he stated, “When I return to Denmark, it will be with Brondby. I formed a profound connection with the club during my time there, one that I can’t envision replicating at any other Danish team.”
The Danish international, formerly captaining Brentford, originally emerged from the youth setup at Lyngby, before embarking on a brief spell with Hamburg in Germany. His nostalgic link with Brondby was established over nearly five years, prior to ventures in Italy with Fiorentina and subsequently in the English Premier League.
While this is not the first time Norgaard has openly mused about a future role at Brondby, he is keen to clarify that a departure from Arsenal is not imminent. “Whether my stay at Arsenal will last two or three years is yet to be determined, but my Danish return is mapped out,” he explained to Danish newspaper Bold. “I guarantee Arsenal will be my final club abroad, and I remain committed to returning to Brondby once my Arsenal contract concludes.”
