Liverpool have reportedly tabled an audacious bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, a player also linked with Manchester United. The reigning Premier League champions are aiming to bolster their options in attack, following injuries and form concerns, despite having already spent a staggering £400 million in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool’s recent transfer endeavours have seen them break the British transfer record twice, with the acquisitions of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, alongside an £80 million outlay on Hugo Ekitike. However, the Reds under manager Arne Slot have witnessed their forward line underperform, exacerbating their current struggles this season.
The team’s attacking woes have been intensified by the ongoing Mohamed Salah transfer saga and a severe injury to Isak, who is sidelined for several months due to a leg fracture. In light of these challenges, Liverpool are reportedly scouting for both immediate and future reinforcements, positioning Adeyemi as a viable candidate to fill the gap left by Isak.
Recently linked with a potential Premier League switch, Adeyemi has been on Manchester United’s radar too. The 23-year-old German international has netted six goals and provided three assists in 22 fixtures for Dortmund this season, and with his contract expiring in 2027, Liverpool have been keen to capitalise on his situation.
According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool have launched an ‘aggressive offer’ of €20 million for Adeyemi, aiming to seize an opportunity amidst Dortmund’s surprise over the proposal. This bid, however, is expected to be turned down by the German outfit.
In addition to Adeyemi, Liverpool are reportedly considering Atletico Madrid’s former Premier League striker Alexander Sorloth. Journalist Matteo Moretto has indicated that while Sorloth is expected to remain with Atletico, a compelling offer could prompt a reconsideration, with the Spanish club valuing him between £30 and £35 million.
