Liverpool have received plaudits for orchestrating a “brilliant deal” as key decisions loom over Alexander Isak, with the club poised to maintain their spending momentum.
Despite a relatively subdued presence in past transfer windows, Liverpool have made significant waves this summer, investing approximately £260 million in six pivotal signings. To date, the Merseyside giants have welcomed Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman to their ranks, with Fabrizio Romano delivering his trademark “here we go” nod to their forthcoming acquisition.
Liverpool’s transfer activity is far from concluded, with reports suggesting they are keenly pursuing moves for both Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi. Their prospects for securing these talents may be bolstered by multiple planned departures, including Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Federico Chiesa, who are expected to follow Jarell Quansah through the exit door this summer.
Further facilitating these moves is the impending transfer of Luis Diaz, as Liverpool have reportedly agreed to a £65 million deal with Bayern Munich for the Colombian star.
Football finance expert Stefan Borson has lauded Liverpool for negotiating such a “brilliant deal” for a player evidently keen to depart. “The player wants to go, clearly they’re going to get a mega fee for a player of his age,” Borson shared with Football Insider. “I’m amazed that Bayern Munich want to do this deal, but they clearly do. It’s a deal that’s brilliant for Liverpool and good for the player.”
Borson further asserted that Liverpool are in a robust fiscal position to “keep spending,” particularly with an eye on Isak. “I think they can still spend. They’re making a choice to really go for it. The squad they are assembling looks brilliant, and if they land Isak and a centre-half, it would be fantastic. With Isak alone, they’d be favourites to win the league.”
He continued, “Whether they’re clear favourites now, maybe. We will have to see how City and Arsenal fare, and whether Chelsea have recuperated after the summer. But yes, Liverpool can keep spending. They have always had the capacity; it’s always been a matter of choice by their ownership.”
