Manchester United’s forward, Rasmus Hojlund, is facing accusations of dawdling on a potential move to AC Milan, despite a purported verbal agreement between the two clubs. The Red Devils, having bolstered their attacking line with summer acquisitions like Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, are keen to offload surplus talent, with Hojlund top of the list following a modest return of four Premier League goals last term.
Reports from Italian outlet Calciomercato suggest that United and Milan have tentatively agreed on a £5.2 million loan deal, potentially leading to a permanent transfer for the Danish international. Although United are inclined towards an outright sale, they appear receptive to a temporary move, as outlined by transfer guru Ben Jacobs. Hojlund, albeit reluctantly, is coming to terms with the necessity of more consistent playing time away from Old Trafford.
Arrigo Sacchi, former managerial mastermind of both AC Milan and the Italian national team, has publicly questioned the delay, urging Hojlund to embrace this storied opportunity. Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi emphasised the enduring allure of the Rossoneri: “We’re not dealing with one of Europe’s elite centre-forwards, but Milan’s call should be irresistible. If Milan is beckoning, you pack a bag for Malpensa.”
Sacchi’s sentiment is not universally shared, with ex-United stalwart Mikael Silvestre advocating caution before any loan is sanctioned. With significant turnover in the striker department, Silvestre highlighted the necessity for competition and depth, particularly if Benjamin Sesko’s move to Old Trafford materialises.
