Chelsea’s ambitious transfer blueprint continues to take shape as BlueCo, the holding company with ownership of the Blues, reportedly finalises a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion to acquire midfielder Julio Enciso. According to The Athletic, the 21-year-old Paraguayan talent is slated to start his journey with Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, also under the BlueCo umbrella, before potentially donning the famous blue shirt of Chelsea.
Enciso, who made a name for himself at Libertad in Paraguay, joined Brighton in 2022 and has since accumulated over 50 appearances for the Seagulls. However, after losing favour at the Amex Stadium under manager Fabian Hurzeler last season, he spent the latter half of the campaign on loan with Ipswich Town. During his stint with the Tractor Boys, Enciso struggled to make a significant impact, managing 13 appearances as Ipswich faced relegation to the Championship.
Chelsea have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bolstering their squad with attacking additions like Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap. The optimism surrounding their recruitment strategy was evident when Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca expressed satisfaction with their transfer activities ahead of the Premier League season, saying: “I’m very happy with our new signings because these are exactly the players we were looking for. Of course, they need time, and we are ready to give them the space to adapt.”
Chelsea opened their Premier League campaign with a hard-fought goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, setting the stage for an intriguing season as they integrate their new acquisitions.
