Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s head coach, has emphatically ruled out a departure for Belgian winger Leandro Trossard, describing any transfer as “forbidden”. This revelation comes as the Gunners’ attempt to secure a promising young talent, Elyes Saidi, hits a snag after a reported bid was rejected.
The North London side is enjoying a stellar start to the 2025/26 season, remaining unbeaten in 15 matches across all competitions since a narrow defeat to Liverpool in August. This impressive form has placed Arsenal at the summit of the Premier League standings, while they also find themselves well-placed in the Champions League and advancing comfortably in the Carabao Cup.
This success has been underpinned by a fruitful transfer window, with the club’s summer expenditure of around £250m fortifying the squad in pursuit of silverware. Although a departure for Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus has not been ruled out as Arsenal might opt for financial balancing in January, Trossard has been deemed indispensable by Arteta. The Belgian has proven to be a transformative acquisition since his £27m move in 2023.
After a dip in form last season, Trossard has rejuvenated his performances recently, exemplified by his goal and assist in a commanding 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Post-match, Arteta made it clear that Trossard remains integral to his plans. “For me it was forbidden for him to leave. No chance,” Arteta stated, praising Trossard’s aggressive and effective display.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s ambitions extend beyond immediate success, as reports from Africa Foot indicate their interest in AJ Auxerre’s youthful star, Elyes Saidi. Despite having an initial offer turned down, the Gunners remain keen on the U17 Morocco international, touted as one of Auxerre’s brightest talents. However, the French outfit seems intent on safeguarding their emerging asset.
