Paul Pogba, Manchester United’s prodigious son, is setting the football world abuzz as he inches closer to a potential return, following the conclusion of his doping suspension.
The 32-year-old midfield maestro and former United academy starlet is back on the market, having been freed from his contract with Juventus last November. Thus, Pogba finds himself inundated with interest, despite the inherent risks that come with signing a player in his twilight years, who has been off the pitch for a significant spell.
Pogba’s rollercoaster ride with Juventus began afresh in 2022, but his second chapter in black and white failed to recapture the glory of his initial run, during which he was instrumental in securing four consecutive Serie A titles before his storied switch back to Manchester. It’s a career that promised so much, crowned by orchestrating France’s triumphant World Cup campaign in 2018, yet often left onlookers wondering what might have been.
Now empowered to return to action, Pogba is on a quest for redemption, eager to write a triumphant finale to his storied career. According to Foot Mercato, Ligue 1 side AS Monaco has emerged as a keen suitor, enamoured by the prospect of enlisting the services of a World Cup victor keen on relaunching his career, with one eye firmly on the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
However, a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League could tempt Pogba away from the Riviera. Al Ittihad, currently reigning supreme in the kingdom, has reportedly opened preliminary talks with the Frenchman. Managed by Laurent Blanc, a luminary of France’s 1998 World Cup-winning side, the Saudi outfit boasts an impressive roster that includes icons like Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Moussa Diaby.
Should Pogba choose the Saudi sands over the glamour of the Côte d’Azur, he would add further star power to a team already brimming with household names, including former Premier League stalwarts Fabinho and Steven Bergwijn. Yet, the ball remains firmly in Pogba’s court.
Monaco, however, remain undeterred and cautiously optimistic. “Optimism remains high within Monaco, even though the former Manchester United star is exploring all opportunities,” reports Foot Mercato, as the saga rolls on with clubs from all corners eyeing this extraordinary opportunity to snap up one of the game’s most enigmatic talents.
