Alexander Isak, the Newcastle striker, is generating significant interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Saudi Arabia, and his agent has hinted that a decision on his “next step” might be imminent.
Despite Newcastle’s insistence that Isak isn’t for sale this summer, the saga continues. Liverpool appeared to alleviate Newcastle’s concerns with their imminent acquisition of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, yet the Reds reportedly still harbour aspirations for Isak. Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are rumoured to be preparing a substantial bid for the forward.
In an unexpected twist, The Independent suggests Arsenal might also be back in the fray, having hit a deadlock in their efforts to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting. Though Manchester United are rumoured to be considering a move for Gyokeres, Fabrizio Romano claims it’s mere speculation with Gyokeres still keen on Arsenal.
Arsenal’s purported “sudden switch” to Isak is said to be causing concern at Newcastle, with whispers suggesting Isak’s head may have been turned. There’s talk of Arsenal having the financial headroom for such a move, though the club’s overt caution in spending remains notable.
Amid this evolving scenario, one of Isak’s agents informed Saudi outlet Arriyadiyah that they are reviewing all options and a resolution could be near.
Former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew believes Isak’s focus might have shifted, posing a challenge for current manager Eddie Howe. Pardew told talkSPORT: “It appears the player’s affected. Eddie has sensibly removed him from the equation, though speculation will persist until Liverpool finalise their business.”
