Colombian sensation Luis Díaz has expressed satisfaction with his summer transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich, describing it as a “good decision” following fruitful years at Anfield. Díaz played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s successes, amassing an impressive 29 goals and 15 assists in the Premier League over three-and-a-half seasons, during which he also helped secure a league title, the FA Cup, and two League Cup victories.
His departure left a void for Liverpool supporters, though it was somewhat eased by the arrival of high-profile signings, including Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. Despite the emotional farewell, Díaz remains convinced that his move to the Bavarian giants was the right call.
In an interview with Sky Sport Deutschland, Díaz shared, “Joining Bayern Munich was a decision taken for an incredible and outstanding team. You want to perform at your best and be at a place where you feel happy and assured. This was undoubtedly the correct step for me and my family.”
While adapting to life at the Allianz Arena, Díaz acknowledged the language barrier as the most challenging aspect of his transition. However, he affirmed his commitment to repay Bayern’s faith in him by delivering on the pitch, akin to his contributions at Liverpool.
Criticism has been aimed at Liverpool’s management after a rocky start to their season, struggling to find momentum as new signings flounder. Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor remarked on talkSPORT about Liverpool’s aching absence of Díaz’s work rate and crucial goal involvements, highlighting his impressive tally in the Bundesliga with 13 goals and eight assists from 20 matches this season.
Further commentary came from ex-Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, who lambasted Liverpool’s decision to sell Díaz, as well as their inability to adequately replace him. “They’ve lost a dynamic player and failed to bring in someone of similar calibre. That, to me, is where they faltered,” Wright-Phillips stated, suggesting that the Anfield faithful are only now comprehending Díaz’s significance.
As the season progresses, Liverpool will hope their decisions bear fruit, but the echoes of Luis Díaz’s absence remain prominent in discussions surrounding their current form.
